In June, 2024, the Attleboro-based Community Health Systems Foundation awarded nearly $700,000 to 25 area non-profit organizations to advance health equity among residents living in 13 area communities.
“Our region is fortunate to have a strong network of non-profit organizations dedicated to improving the health of individuals and families throughout our region,” said CHSF President Paul Lenahan. “At a time when so many people are faced with physical and mental health issues, and as health care equity remains a challenge, these grants are designed to advance and accelerate the critical work that these organizations are doing every day.”
The Foundation awarded grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 to the following organization in 2024:
American Credit Counseling (Plainville) -- alleviate stress for individuals facing financial challenges.
Arc of Bristol County (Attleboro) -- support telehealth initiatives.
Associates for Human Services (Taunton) -- support remodeling of participant space.
Attleboro Area Interfaith Collaborative -- support Interfaith chaplaincy program.
Attleboro/Norton YMCA – support low-moderate income families enrolled in childcare programs.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro West (Taunton) -- social-emotional support services for young people.
Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket -- scholarships to Camp Ramsbottom in Rehoboth and first aid supplies.
Catholic Charities (Diocese of Fall River) -- improve health and nutrition literacy for people transitioning out of emergency shelter system in greater Attleboro and Taunton.
Community Access to Rides (Attleboro) – provide transportation for low-income individuals.
Community Servings (Boston)-- medically tailored meals for individuals affected by disease and food insecurity.
Father Bill’s & Mainspring (Taunton) – helping to keep vulnerable families and individuals securely housed.
Franklin Food Pantry – helping to alleviate food insecurity.
Hebron Food Pantry (Attleboro) -- fresh produce, feminine hygiene products, diapers, etc.
Hockomock Area YMCA – (North Attleborough) -- meals for school-age children for weekend and break weeks in Plainville.
Joe Andruzzi Foundation (North Attleborough) -- support families affected by cancer.
Kennedy Donovan Center (Foxboro) -- therapeutic equipment.
KyleCares Foundation (North Attleborough) -- mental health awareness education and training for students, educators, and parents.
The Literacy Center (Attleboro) – funding for two English speakers of other Languages classes and four targeted health literacy workshops.
Manet Health (Attleboro/Taunton) -- expanded nurse care management program.
Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (Newton) – helping to identify permanent families for youths in foster care.
Old Colony Habitat for Humanity (Attleboro) -- construction costs for a home.
Our Daily Bread Food and Resource Center (Taunton) -- supporting the needs of the guests (meals, laundry, showers, community services, etc.)
Safe Coalition (Franklin) -- school suspension diversion program.
Society of St. Vincent de Paul (Attleboro) -- stabilization services for formerly incarcerated individuals.
Triboro Youth Theatre (Attleboro) -- financial assistance for low income youth to participate in theatre.
Formed in 2021, the mission of Community Health Systems Foundation is to provide grants to nonprofit organizations that enhance the community’s capacity to achieve optimal health, wellness, and quality of life. The CHSF supports organizations serving the needs of individuals and families in the following communities: Attleboro, Dighton, Easton, Franklin, Foxboro, Mansfield, Norton, North Attleboro, Plainville, Rehoboth, Seekonk, Taunton, and Wrentham.
